Struck

I was stuck by lightning last night.

It was the scariest thing I have ever been through. The funny thing is, I was in our house, on the bottom floor. Thank God I was grounded or it would have been a lot worse. I just got a little burn on my hand.

Yes....I was doing something stupid during a thunder storm. I was playing a video game when a storm rolled up. I was about to give up for the night because I kept dieing in the game and the wife called down to me to come upstairs because she was getting scared from the thunder and lightning so close. 2 seconds later, I hear a loud clap of thunder just above our house and the next thing I know the game controller shocks me.

Come to find out, another electric circuit in the basement took most of the jolt, but it arched in the breaker panel to the circuit I was playing the game on, jumped through the game console and shocked me. My feet were planted on the ground so the current passed through me, but because there was some distance for it to jump between me and the controller, I got a zap.

The circuit that took the main charge blew out a plug and melted an outlet before the threw the breaker. When the breaker threw, the charge arched to the next closest breaker. The one I was playing on.

ZAP!!

It was shocking!

Ever see that movie Powder? Now I know how he feels......sort of.
